eFootball Rules
Konami's football simulation game, played much like FIFA/EA Sports FC.
Head-to-head matches, shortened halves (6-10 minutes) standard for casual leagues.
- •Standard football points: 3 for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss
- •Tiebreaker: goal difference, then goals scored
- •Track goals for/against per match for a full league-table stat line
- •Agree squad/team restrictions and difficulty level before the season, same as any football video game league
- •Agree match length and controller/input method rules (some leagues restrict assisted controls)
- •Keep a screenshot of the final result screen for disputed scores
Squad rules for a level league
eFootball's team-building is progression-based, which means a player who has been grinding for months arrives with a materially stronger squad than someone starting fresh. A league that ignores this is partly ranking players by hours played.
The straightforward fix is to play with default national or club teams rather than built squads, or to set an overall rating cap. Both put the contest back on the pitch rather than in the squad screen.
Match settings and format
Agree half length, difficulty and whether injuries and substitutions are enabled, then lock them for the season. Ten-minute matches are the common casual choice and finish quickly enough for a full round of fixtures in an evening.
Because eFootball updates frequently, note the version at the start of a season. Balance changes between updates can shift which playstyles work, and a table spanning a major patch is measuring two different games.
Common questions
How is eFootball different from FIFA for a league?
The gameplay is more deliberate and the squad-building is progression-driven rather than card-market-driven. For league purposes that means squad parity needs more attention, which is why default teams or rating caps are the usual answer.
Can you run cross-platform fixtures?
Cross-play support varies by mode and version, so confirm it before building a league across consoles and PC. If it is not available, split into platform divisions with a cross-platform final only if the format allows it.
What is a reasonable season length?
Eight to twelve players playing home and away gives fourteen to twenty-two fixtures each, which fits a couple of months of weekly sessions. Longer seasons tend to be interrupted by a major update, which resets the meta anyway.
How do you handle disconnects?
Agree the rule before the season: commonly, a disconnect in the first few minutes triggers a replay and anything later stands at the current score. Without a stated rule, every disconnect becomes a negotiation between two players who both want to win.
