WWE 2K Rules
A wrestling simulation game, played head-to-head in singles or tag matches.
Head-to-head matches, single-fall standard for a casual league.
- •Win = 2 league points, loss = 0 — same simple system as other 1v1 video games on this site
- •League table ranks by total points across the season
- •Tiebreaker: head-to-head result
- •Agree match type (singles, tag, ladder, etc.) and any CPU-assist settings before the season
- •Agree character/roster restrictions if using created wrestlers with custom stats
- •Pin, submission, count-out or disqualification all end a match — agree which count for league results
Match types and league structure
A wrestling league can be run two ways: as a straight competitive ladder where match results decide a table, or as a storyline-driven season where a booker plans outcomes and the league is about performance. Both work, and they are very different things.
For a competitive league, fix the match type per round: singles, tag, triple threat and ladder matches all reward different skills, and rotating them across a season prevents one player's specialism dominating.
Roster and settings parity
Overall ratings vary widely across the roster, so free selection quickly narrows to the same handful of top-rated wrestlers. Drafting a roster per player at the start of the season is the usual fix, and creates identity too.
Lock difficulty, finisher and reversal settings, and decide whether created wrestlers are allowed. Creation suites let players build characters well outside the balance of the official roster.
Common questions
How long does a match take?
Ten to twenty minutes for a standard singles match depending on settings and match type. Ladder and multi-man matches take considerably longer, so schedule them as special events rather than weekly fixtures.
Should a league use created wrestlers?
Only if everyone does and attributes are capped. A created wrestler built to maximum stats will beat a roster wrestler regardless of who is holding the controller, which is not a league result.
Can you run a storyline league?
Yes, and many groups prefer it. A booker plans the card and outcomes, and players are scored on performance and presentation rather than wins. It is a different hobby from a competitive ladder, so be explicit about which you are running.
How do you keep matches competitive?
Draft rosters so no wrestler is shared, rotate match types, and consider a rating cap on selections. Recording finishing moves and match types also gives the season a record worth revisiting.
